Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has inaugurated two sets of a block of
three classrooms with an office and VIP toilets in two public schools in
Ibadan, the state capital – Yejide Girls Grammar School, Molete and
Ebenezer African Church School, Salvation Army.
At the inauguration ceremony at Yejide Girls Grammar School, Molete,
attended by the lawmaker’s political associates and supporters of the
All Progressives Congress (APC), Lanlehin described the gesture as one
of his constituency projects that were meant to restore glory in the
education sector.
He attributed the choice of the school as a beneficiary of the
project to a former governor of the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, who he
described as a lover and pillar of education.
“We’re trying to make sure that all hands are on deck to solve
problems of lack of facilities in our public schools and get back to the
days of yore when we used to have functional education. We want to
raise the bar of education,” he said.
The lawmaker urged governments at all levels, especially the Federal
Government, to change their attitude to education and prioritise the
sector education in the interest of growth and development.
Inaugurating the project at Yejide Girls Grammar School, Molete,
Ibadan, wife of the late former governor of the state, Alhaja Sarat
Adesina, said her husband chose the school as a beneficiary of the
project because of his love for women and the development of the
girl-child education.
Alhaja Adesina, represented by her son, Alhaji Adetunji Adesina,
thanked Senator Lanlehin for sustaining the legacy and ideals of the
late elder statesman.
The principal of the school, Mrs A. O. Ojeyinka, described the
project as a pleasant surprise and promised that the school would make
the best of the facilities.
Secretary of the Ibadan branch of the Old Girls Association of Yejide
Girls Grammar School, Mrs Olubunmi Coker, commended Senator Lanlehin
for what she described as his noble gesture.
She urged other politicians and public office holders to emulate the
lawmaker and join in the campaign to bring back the glory of education
in the country.
Chairman of the PTA Forum of the school, Mr Johnson Abolade Amusan,
thanked God for enabling the lawmaker to assist the school with the
project.
He expressed appreciation to the senator and prayed God to continue
to guide him in his quest to continue to give quality representation to
the populace in the National Assembly.
At the inauguration ceremony at Ebenezer African Church School,
Salvation Army, Ibadan, the Head Master, Mr Gabriel Sunday Ogunyileka,
said the project would spur the teachers and students to greater
performances.
