President Goodluck  Jona­than has described the death of the renowned Nigerian businessman and religious leader, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao, as shocking and sad.

The Presidency on Sunday dismissed reports that the Federal Government was planning to name the University of Ibadan after late former Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili.

The toll from a massive explosion at a busy bus station in Nigeria's capital rose to 75 dead Tuesday and is expected to grow. There has been no claim of responsibility for the rush-hour blast, though President Goodluck Jonathan is blaming the attack on Islamic extremists.

Latest governance poll results made available to IBPulse.com by NOIPolls for the month of February 2014 have revealed that 51% of the adult Nigerian population approve of the job performance of President Goodluck Jonathan over the past month. This rating represents a 10-point decline in his approval rating from January 2014 (61%).  

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday (Saturday) visited Ibadan for an undisclosed mission. The President arrived the city from Kano, where he had visited on Saturday morning.
