IBPulse.com can exclusively report that Oyo state government has postponed indefinitely the official opening of the upgraded Agodi Gardens.

Even though work on the project is at advanced stage and nearing completion, one of the supervisors working on the project told our correspondent the official opening has been put on hold to allow the workers to satisfactorily complete the project.

"Even though we've reached an advanced stage, we want to complete it before it is opened to members of the public," he told IBPulse.com.

Ibpulse.com recently reported Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state at the recently held Oyo State Economic Summit announced the recreation resort would be commissioned before the end of April.

"It will be opened later this month [April] which means it will host an Easter party; it will also have a small shopping center," the governor said.

When the project is completed, the governor said it will be "a small Dubai inside Nigeria. It will be a place for relaxation and recreation."

Earthworks Landscape Architects South Africa is the lead consultant on the project with Engineers and Architects from Nigeria and South Africa on the team.

The Agodi Gardens according to the governor is an important component of the leisure triangle of Oyo state which is located around the Premier Hotel axis. He also revealed that the rejuvenation project was undertaken in partnership with a South African firm (AM & SEA).
